Target List Form

Use Target Lists in AMS360 to identify customers, prospects, or suspects in your agency's database that meet a set of criteria you select. This list can then be used to determine workload, to send a letter about changing markets, or to cross-sell products.

Creating a Target List

Do the following to create a new target list:

From the Home Center sidebar menu select Views > Target Lists.
Click New Target List.
Select criteria for your target list. See Target Lists Selections, in this topic for information on the criteria available.
When you have made your selections, click Run Query in the Query Information section. The Count Results appear.
Enter a List Name, Description, and Author.
To save your target list, click Save & Close on the toolbar.

You can create a target list from scratch by selecting the criteria or you can create a target list by copying the criteria from an existing list and then changing specific items.

Target Lists Grid

The target list grid includes existing lists to view or copy as the basis for a new list. The target lists appear in ascending order by Name. To re-sort the lists using the information in any column, click the column header.

Column	What is this?
Name	The name given the list when it was created.
Date	The date the list was created.
Author	The person who created the list.
Description	The description entered when the list was created.
# of Customers	The number of customers that met the criteria when the query was run and the list was saved.
# of Policies	The number of policies that met the criteria when the query was run and the list was saved.
# of Lines of Business	The number of lines of business that met the criteria when the query was run and the list was saved.
# of Dependents/Drivers	The number of dependents or drivers that met the criteria when the query was run and the list was saved.
Total Rows	The number of rows generated by your query. If your target list includes policy criteria, the rows represent policies that match the criteria.

Target List Selections

Select criteria for your target list from the following sections.

Each section includes a Delete option, in the upper right corner, that you can use to clear the criteria for that section.

Customer Criteria

These selections query your AMS360 database using the information entered in the Customer data entry form, and personal lines of business data entry forms that include driver information.

Remember the more criteria you select the smaller your Target List will be because the members of the list must meet all the selected criteria.

Fields/ Groups

Select the types of customers to include in your target list.

Status

Select the status of customers to include in your target list.

Business with Agency

Select the types of business with your agency that customers in your target list must have. The options are:

Commercial
Life

Non P & C

Zip Codes

Use to select customers for your list based on zip codes. Enter a zip code and the list includes all customers with that zip code.

For a range or series of zip codes enter starting and ending codes in the zip code fields.

County(ies)

Use to create a target list based on county by entering up to two counties.

The spelling of the county must match exactly. However, the entries are not case-sensitive. Using king as search criteria will return king and King.

Date of Birth

Month(s)

Use to select a birth month or a range of months.

A month and an age:

AMS360 calculates the year (based on the age) and the list includes those born in that month and year.

A range of months and ages:

AMS360 calculates the year (based on the age) and the list includes those born in those months and years.

Age(s)

Use to select an age or a range of ages.

Include Dependents/ Drivers

Use to include dependents and drivers based on their birth month and age.

Include dependents/drivers

AMS360 searches the date of birth in the Dependent section of the Customer Information and the Driver Information sections of personal lines of business forms that include drivers.

Examples:

Select July in the first month field and August in the second month field. Your list will include those who have a birthday in July and August of any year.
Select July in the first month field and August in the second month field. Select 20 in the first age field and 21 in the second age field.

If the current year is 2004, then your target list will include those that have a birthday in July and August of 1983 and 1984.

Last name(s) or
Firm name(s)

Enter one or more letters of the name(s) to use for the search.

If you enter one or more letters in the first field, the list includes names that start with those letters.

Example If you enter Smi then your list will include those whose names begin with Smi.

If you enter one or more letters in the first field and one or more letters in the second field, your list will include names that fall within the range of the letters.

Example

If you enter Smi and Szz, then your list will include those whose names begin with SmithroughSzz.

Imported Leadlist

Select the name of a lead list you have imported into AMS360. For more information see Workflow: Import a Leadlist.

Business Unit

Business Unit	What is this?
Division	Use to limit your target list to customers assigned to a specific division.
Branch	Use to limit your target list to customers assigned to a specific branch.
Department	Use to limit your target list to customers assigned to a specific department.
Group	Use to limit your target list to customers assigned to a specific group.

Employee Assignment

Use to create a list based on the following information assigned to the customer:

Notation

To base the list on a Notation assigned in customer information, select a notation from the list.

NAIC #

You can also base the list on the NAIC code entered in customer information. Enter one to eight numbers of the NAIC code.

Customer added on or After

Enter a date to locate customers who have been added to your AMS360 database since that date.

The customer added date field is the date you enter a new customer, or the date you change the status of a prospect or suspect to a customer.

Business Origin

The method by which the policy was originally attained.

Acquisition

The method by which the customer was originally attained.

Marital Status

To base the list on the marital status entered in customer information, select up to two statuses.

Profile(s) Criteria

These selections queries your AMS 360 database using the data entered in the Profile section of the Customer data entry form. There is no limit to the number of profile questions you can include in your query.

Remember the more criteria you select the smaller your Target List will be because the members of the list must meet all the selected criteria.

Question

To create a list of customers that have a specific answer to a profile question, first select the question from the list.

Questions are agency-defined. For more information see Profile Question Setup.

Operator

Use this operator in combination with the answer to a specific profile question. Select an operator using the guide below:

Operator	What does this mean?
Equal to	Indicates that the answer to the selected profile question must equal the comparison value you enter.
Exists	Indicates that an answer exists for the selected profile question. It does not have any other requirements for contents of the answer, only that there is one.
Greater than	Indicates that the answer to the selected profile question must be greater than the comparison value you enter.
Greater than or equal to	Indicates that the answer to the selected profile question must be greater than or equal to the comparison value you enter.
Less than	Indicates that the answer to the selected profile question must be less than the comparison value you enter.
Less than or equal to	Indicates that the answer to the selected profile question must be less than or equal to the comparison value you enter. Less than or equal to and a blank comparison value do not return customers with unanswered profile questions. Use Not Exists to identify customers with missing answers to profile questions.
Not equal to	Indicates that the answer to the selected profile question does not equal the comparison value you enter.
Not exists	Indicates that the answer to the selected profile question is blank. Use this option to create a list of customers who need to have an answer entered for a particular profile question.

Comparison Value

Enter the answer to the profile question to use in the search. You can enter up to 80 characters.

You can use a wild card character (%) when querying text-type answers with Equal to (=) or Not equal to (<>) operators.

Wild card use

What it does

Beginning and end of word or phrase

By placing the % at both the beginning and end of the comparison text, AMS360 finds customers where the word or phrase is anywhere in the profile answer.

Example:If you enter %umbrella%, then the search finds all customers with answers like the following:

End of word or phrase

If you place a % following the comparison text, the search finds customers where the text is at the end of the profile answer.

Example If you enter umbrella%, then AMS360 finds answers like the following:

If you place a % at the beginning of the comparison text, the search finds customers where the text is at the beginning of the profile answer.

This selection is optional. When entering more than one profile question you can select either And or Or.

If you select either And or Or on the first profile question, then the same value applies for all profile questions you select and cannot be changed for individual questions.

These selections queries your AMS360 database using the data entered in the X-Dates section of the Customer data entry form.

Remember the more criteria you select the smaller your Target List will be because the members of the list must meet all the selected criteria.

Enter a date in the first field only and AMS360 searches for a single date.

Use this field to limit your list to customers with specific or ranges of X-Date months.

Enter a month in the first field only and AMS360 searches for a single month.

Line(s) of Business

Select one or two lines of business to create a list of customers that have an X-Date entry with one of those Lines of Business.

Premium(s)

To create a list based on X-Date Premiums enter a specific premium or a range of premiums.

Enter a premium in the first field only and AMS360 searches for a single premium amount.

Enter premiums in both fields to search for a range of premiums.

Enter a premium in the second field only and AMS360 includes all premiums less than or equal to the premium entered.

You can enter up to $999,999,999.00 and AMS360 formats the numbers for you.

Interest Level

To create a list based on X-Date Interest Level select up to four interest levels from the list. AMS360 includes all customers who have one of the interest levels entered. The choices are:

Company

To limit your list to a Company entered in the X-Date section of the Customer data entry form, select the company from the list.

Current Agent

To create a list for X-Dates with a specific Current Agent, enter the name in this field.

The spelling of the name you enter must match the one entered in X-Date data entry. However, it is not case-sensitive. No wild cards apply to searching on this field.

Account Size

To create a list based on X-Date Account Size select up to three account sizes from the list. AMS360 includes all customers who have one of the sizes entered. The choices are:

Closed
Jumbo
Large
Medium
Small

Basic Policy Criteria

These selections query your AMS360 database using the data entered in the Policy data entry form.

Policy Type	To limit your target list to policies of a specific Policy Type, select it from the list. The choices are: BOP Monoline Package
Transaction	To limit your target list to policies with a specific Transaction, select it from the list.
Notation	To limit your target list to policies with a specific policy Notation, select it from the list.
Parent Company	To limit your target list to policies with a specific Parent Company entered in basic policy, select it from the list. Select from the list of active companies in AMS360.
Writing Company	To limit your target list to policies with a specific Writing Company entered in basic policy, select it from the list. Select from the list of active companies in AMS360.
Bill Method	To limit your target list to policies with a specific Bill Method entered in basic policy, select it from the list. The choices are: 1st Installment Agency Agency Bill Direct Bill

Exclude Policies for this Renewal List Assignment

To prevent policies with one of the following Renewal List Assignments from appearing on your list, select it from the list. The choices are:

Annual
Do not include

Cost of Insurance

To limit your target list to policies with a specific Cost of Insurance or a range costs (viewable in Basic Policy), enter it in the field.

Full Term Premium(s)

To limit your list to policies with a specific Full Term Premium or a range of premiums (entered in Basic Policy), enter it in the field.

Business Unit

Business Unit	What is this?
Division	Use to limit your target list to policies assigned to a specific division.
Branch	Use to limit your target list to policies assigned to a specific branch.
Department	Use to limit your target list to policies assigned to a specific department.
Group	Use to limit your target list to policies assigned to a specific group.

Employee Assignment

Executive	For a list of customers assigned to a specific executive, select it from the list.
Representative	For a list of customers assigned to a specific representative, select it from the list.
Broker	For a list of customers assigned to a specific broker, select it from the list.

Policy Term(s)

Only Current Policy Terms

To limit your search to only current in-force policies, check this box. When selected, the Policy Effective and Expiration Date fields become unavailable.

What is a current Policy?

A policy is current if the policy effective and expiration dates is equal to or falls between today's system date and the transaction is not a type of cancellation or non-renewal.

Example A policy with a 4/1/04 effective date and a 4/1/05 expiration date is current on 4/1/04, 4/1/05, or any date in between.

Effective/Expiration Date(s)

Use to create a list with specific policy effective and/or expiration dates or range of dates.

Additional Information

Option

What is this?

Business New to Agency

Check this option if you want your list to include all policies where this box is checked in Basic Policy Information.

Vertafore suggests that you use this option in conjunction with a range of policy effective dates. Otherwise, your list will include all policies where this box is checked.

First Written Date(s)

This is a Date field, where you can track when the business was first written. This will default to the date during which the policy is being written.

Business Origin

The method by which the policy was originally attained.

Line(s) of Business Criteria

These selections query your AMS360 database using data entered in any of the Line of Business data entry forms within the Policy data entry form. You are not limited in the number of lines of business you can include in your query.

Line of Business

Limits your target list to policies with one or more Lines of Business.

Operator

Choose one of the following test operators for your line of business search:

Operator	What does this mean?
Exists	This option searches for policies that have this line of business.
Not Exists	This option searches for policies that do not have this line of business.

And/Or

When including multiple lines of business in your search you are required to select one of the following:

Searches for policies that meet all of the line of business criteria entered.

Example If you enter criteria for Homeowners (exists) And Private Passenger Auto (exists) your query will find customers that have a policy with both lines of business or a policy for each line of business. But they must have both lines of business.

Searches for policies that meet at least one of the line of business criteria entered.

Example If you enter criteria for Homeowners (exists) Or Private Passenger Auto (exists) your query will find customers that have at least one of the lines of business, either a homeowners or a private passenger auto. The customer can have both lines of business and still appear on the target list.

If you select either And or Or for any line of business, then the same value is set for all lines of business you select and cannot be changed for individual lines.

Coverage(s) Criteria

You can add coverage criteria to your Target List after selecting a Line of Business.

You can choose coverage criteria for Specialty Lines of Business only where you have created and used a Specialty Line of Business data entry form or you are using one of the system data entry forms.

Coverage

The coverage list contains all coverages. Select the one you want to use.

You can add multiple coverages to your criteria list. Coverages are associated with a line of business.

Operator

Choose one of the following operators for your coverage search:

Exists	This option searches for policies/lines of business that have this coverage.
Not Exists	This option searches for policies/lines of business that do not have this coverage.

And/Or

When including multiple coverages in your search you are required to select one of the following:

Searches for policies/lines of business that meet all of the coverage criteria entered.

Example If you enter Homeowner coverage criteria for Replacement Cost (exists) And Inflation guard (exists) your query will find customers that have a homeowners policy with both coverages.

Searches for policies that meet at least one of the coverage criteria entered.

Example If you enter Private Passenger Auto coverage criteria for Collision (exists) Or Comprehensive (exists) your query will find customers that have at least one Private Passenger Auto policy with either Collision or Comprehensive. The customer can have a Private Passenger Auto policy with both coverages and still appear on the target list.

If you select either And or Orfor any coverage, then the same value is set for all coverages you select and cannot be changed for individual coverages. However, you can enter a duplicate line of business and enter different coverage criteria.

Limit(s) and Deductible(s)

Use the following table as a resource when using the limit fields. These fields correspond to specific limits for particular lines of business.

Your Target List includes customers and policies only; it does not include coverage detail.

Examples for Line(s) of Business Queries

These are the most common types of target lists created. Use them as a guideline when selecting the criteria for your target list.

Selection Criteria	Example	Target List Query Results
1 LOB with "EXISTS"	Line of Business = Watercraft	All customers that have a minimum of the selected LOB in a monoline and/or package policy.
1 LOB with "NOT EXISTS"	Line of Business not = Personal Umbrella	All customers that do not contain the selected LOB in a monoline and/or package policy. If this LOB is found anywhere for a customer, that customer will not appear on the target list. If a customer has no policies, that customer will appear on the target list.
2 or 3 LOB's selected with 'EXISTS' and an operator of 'AND'	Line of Business = Private Passenger Auto, and Line of Business = Homeowners	All customers that have a minimum of ALL the selected LOB's in a monoline and/or package policy. If one of the LOB's is not found anywhere for a customer, that customer will not appear on the target list.
2 or 3 LOB's are selected with 'NOT EXISTS' and an operator of 'AND'	Line of Business not = Homeowners, and Line of Business not = Personal Umbrella	All customers that do not contain both selected LOB's in a monoline and/or package policy. Query Information

When you are finished making the selections for your target list, run the query to locate the individuals and policies that meet the criteria. Use this section to run the query and view the results.

Query results do not include submissions.

Click this button to use the selected criteria to search AMS360 and create the target list. The status bar displays information about the progress of the query.

Count Results

These fields are display only.

Field	What is this?
# of Customers	The number of customers, prospects, and suspects that meet the criteria.
# of Dependents/ Drivers	The number of personal lines dependents and drivers that meet the criteria. This field only appears if you checked Include Dependents/Drivers in the Customer Criteria section.
# of Policies	The number of policies that meet the criteria. More than one policy per customer can meet the criteria.
# of Lines of Business	The number of lines of business that meet the criteria. Policies can have multiple lines of business that meet the criteria.
Total rows	The total number of customers, policies, and lines of business that meet the criteria. A row appears for each policy or line of business that matches the criteria. This can result in multiple rows per customer.

Save List As

Field	What is this?
List Name	Enter a name for the target list that will make it easily identifiable in the target lists grid.
Description	Enter a brief explanation for the target list to help identify it in the target lists grid.
Author	Defaults to the employee currently logged in and creating the target list query. You can change the name, if necessary, by choosing an employee from the list.
Include Policy Information	Check this box to save the policy and line of business data and counts with the target list.

(Fill Grid)

Click this button to display the actual customer and policy detail information generated by your query.

This option is only available if your target list policy count is less than 2500.

Default Sort

The default sort is by Customer Name and then by Policy # in ascending order. You can re-sort by any column by clicking the column header.

The information that appears is based on your division and department security authorization.

(Delete Row)

Select a row in the grid and click this button to remove the customer and policy from the target list. This allows you to create a customized list. When you save the target list, the rows you delete are not included in the list.

If you delete a row in error you can click Run Query again to return all the original rows to the grid.

Map Location

Use this link to create a map for the selected participants in your target list.

This option is only available for rows that appear in the grid.

Query Results Grid

Click the Fill Grid button to display the following information from your target list:

Type Cust	The types of customers that met the criteria. The types are as follows: Agency Customers Broker's Customers Prospects Suspects
Cust Name	The name of the customer that met your criteria.
EMail	The email address for the customer entered in customer information.
Address City State Zip Code	The address for the customer entered in customer information.
Bus Phone	The business and residence phones for the customer that was entered in customer information.
Res Phone
Exec	The executives and representatives for the customer entered in customer information.
Rep
Policy #	The policy numbers that met your criteria.
Eff - Exp	The effective and expiration dates of the policy listed in the query results.
