Equine Plan Setup
Each company providing Equine Mortality coverage has specific plans for insuring horses. Use Equine Setup to enter each company's plan selections. Once you enter a plan, you can use it as the System Data Entry form to associate with a line of business in Line of Business Setup or as the form to use when you enter a line of business in policy data entry.
If you'd like a plan name to appear on the policy, you can set it up using Company Plan Setup.
On the 360 Toolbox menu, click Launch Programs > Equine Setup.

Over-Age Setup | This setup table is designed to address the rating and valuation issues associated with over-age animals. Age: Age pulls from the Age Setup section. Select the age from the list. Sort: This is the order the ages appear in the list. Rating Factor: Type the Rating Factor as a percentage, formatted as a decimal. This percentage is added to the full mortality rate for a horse whose age and breed is equal to an age and breed with a factor in the table. Example If the normal rate is .04 (based on the Breed Use Rate table), and the Over-Age Rating Factor is .025, the rate displayed on the horse is the sum, .065. This summed rate is used in the premium calculation. If there is no base rate set up in the table for the Breed Use combination, the base rate of 0.00 is added to the Over-Age rate. Value Reduction: This is only applicable to the full mortality rate and does not apply to additional eligible coverages. Type the Value Reduction as a percentage, formatted as a decimal. The Over-Age Value Reduction calculation is a percentage of the limit, rounded to the nearest whole number. This percentage is applied against the limit of a subject horse whose age and breed are equal to an age and breed with a factor in the table. In the case of multiple years, the reduction is based on the original limit, which is stored in the Horse table. Example A horse turns 10, which gives it an Overage Reduction of 10%. The limit goes from $10,000 to $9,000. The next year when the horse is 11, the Overage Reduction is 20%. The original $10,000 limit becomes $8,000. This changed limit is used in the premium calculation. General Breed: General Breed pulls from the General Breed Setup section. Select a breed from the list. |
Premium Tax by State | Some states charge a premium tax. The tax is a percentage of the premium, and is applied against the total policy premium. AMS360 cross-references the customer address against the taxes set up in this section and applies the appropriate tax rate if a match is found. The tax rate can vary by plan. State: Select a state from the list. Tax Description: Type a description of the tax, if applicable. Tax Rate: Type the tax rate percentage as a decimal. Example .08 |
