An acronym for Insurance Value Added Network Services. IVANS was founded in 1983 as an industry network providing a focal point for conducting business electronically in the insurance industry.
The initial purpose was to build a shared facility for the electronic transfer of data between independent agents and property/casualty insurance companies.
Now owned by several dozen insurance companies and the employees of the company, IVANS develops and provides networking and e-business products and services to most of the major property and casualty, life and health carriers, as well as to a large segment of companies offering insurance-related services.
