Retention Report
The Retention report shows currently in-force policies with the same line of business in-force a year ago. A policy is considered retained as long as the two policies have the same line of business, even if the company on the policies is different.
This report looks for customers who have an In-force policy on the retention date. The business associated with these current In-force policies is evaluated against In-force policies one year prior to the retention date. If a current In-force policy line of business exists on a prior In-force policy, then that line of business is be reported as retained.
The report does not include policies with the following criteria:
- Quote as latest transaction
- Continuous (no expiration date)
- Not flagged Include in Premium Total

The policy must meet the following criteria for the business to appear on the report as retained.
Expiring Policy
- An in-force policy exists for the customer that is one year prior to the retention
- Has an entry in the Transaction Premiums section (
)
- Marked to "Include in Premium Totals" (
)
New/Renewed Policy
- In-force on the Retention Date used to create the report (can be canceled or not renewed after the retention date)
- Has an entry in the Transaction Premiums section (
)
- Marked to "Include in Premium Totals" (
)
Policy Download can send entries for the Transaction Premium section of the policy. Whether or not the “Include in Premium Totals” is marked is determined by your agency’s Billing Options Setup selections in Company Setup for each company. |

Commercial Package Rules
To determine if commercial lines of business are retained, the following rules apply regarding the seven lines of commercial package business below.
- Commercial Package (CPKGE)
- Business Owners (BOP)
- Business Owners Liability (BOPGL)
- Business Owners Property (BOPPR)
- Agriculture Liability (AGLIA)
- Agriculture Sch/UnSch Pers Property (AGPP)
- Agriculture Package (APKGE)
Business is considered retained:
- If the in-force commercial policy has any line of business listed above, and a year ago a commercial policy was in-force with any line of business not listed above.
- If the in-force commercial policy has any line of business not listed above, and a year ago a commercial policy was in-force with any line of business listed above.
Personal Package Rules
To determine if personal lines business are retained, the following rules apply regarding Personal Package (PPKGE).
A business is considered retained:
- If the in-force personal policy has PPKGE, and a year ago a personal policy was in-force with any line of business.
- If the in-force personal policy has any business other than PPKGE, and a year ago a personal policy was in-force with PPKGE.
