Data Schedule Template

AMS360 has created templates for use with the Data Schedule Import/Export feature. The template for each data schedule contains a complete set of data fields that AMS360 stores. They are designed to ensure that your client's data can easily be imported into your AMS360 data base. These templates can not be modified or deleted but you can make copies which allow for customization.

    ClosedAccessing Data Schedule Template

From any data entry form that has a Toolbox menu, click System Administration > Utilities > Data Schedule Template.

    ClosedCreate a Copy of a Data Schedule Template

  1. Select the desired template in the Data Schedule column.

  2. Click File > Copy Data Schedule Template.

  3. The template's data entry fields appear.

    ClosedEdit an Existing Data Schedule Template

  1. Select the desired  non-permanent template under Data Schedule column. You cannot edit a permanent Data Schedule Template.

  1. Click Edit on the Data Schedule Template section menu.

  2. The Data Schedule Template data entry fields appear.

Enter a meaningful name that helps you identify the template.

Data Format Instruction.txt

You must make a selection in the Data Schedulefield to see the relevant guidelines.

  • Guidelines on how to format the data to create a .CSV file that minimizes errors when importing the data back into AMS360.

  • The guidelines it contain the format and/or data value that AMS360 tables expect.

  • These guidelines are customizable. For instance, you can delete the text that does not apply to your particular needs.

Description

Enter a description for the template, if necessary.

File Sample

Enter the directory path and name of the File Sample for column assigning.

Browse

Opens the Open dialog box so you can navigate to the File Sample for column assigning. Once the file sample is selected and you tab out of the field, the interactive grid is filled with all columns from the file.

Select Text Qualifier (if applies)

Text Qualifier

Some lists use single or double quotation marks to indicate that the characters they enclose should all be treated as text, including characters that might otherwise be treated as delimiters.

  • Double quote (")

  • None

  • Single quote (')

Example Select comma as the Delimiter and Double quote marks as the text qualifier. With these choices, the following sample will display two columns in the grid: Johnson in one column and Manager, Sales in the other column.

"Johnson", "Manager, Sales"

AMS360 uses "Double quotes" as the default text qualifier for the imported .csv file.

 

    ClosedUse the Right Click Menu to Assign the Column Content

The bottom of the Data Schedule Template data entry form contains a grid with multiple features allowing you to assign, organize and display the data as you wish.

  • Choosing to Edit or Copy an existing template will pull the default column headings from that template.

  • Choosing to create a New template displays the grid with no column headings.

Right-clicking in the first cell of a column (not the column heading) reveals the following menu choices:

Organizing Your Data

Right clicking on the column heading shows the following menu.

Filter Type

Sort Ascending
Sort Descending

These features are not available for this grid.

Group By This Field

This feature is not available for this grid.

Best Fit

Adjusts the current column width to the length of the cell containing the most data.

You can also adjust the size of a column by placing your cursor between two column headers until your cursor turns into a double-headed arrow. Then click and drag the column boundary to the right or left until it is the width you want.

Can Filter

Turns on or off the ability to filter the data that appears in the grid. Select the black arrow on the right side of the column and choose from the following options:

Filter Type

What does it do?

All

Display all rows.

Custom

Apply two criteria values within the current column by using the operators (equal, greater than) or the comparison values (and/or). Using this feature you can apply a custom filter to the list.

Blanks

Display only rows that contain a blank cell in the filtered column.

NonBlanks

Display only rows that contain a value in the filtered column.

Specific item

Choose to display only rows that contain a specific value in the filtered column.

Clear Filter

Sets filter option back to the default (All)

Best Fit (all columns)

Adjusts all column widths to the length of the cell containing the most data for each column.
