Select a Delimiter and a Text Qualifier (if applies)

Field

What is this?

Delimiter

Specific characters or method used in the list to separate data elements. AMS360 uses the Delimiter to divide the information into columns. The options are:

  • Comma separated (,)

  • Double quote (")

  • Semicolon separated (:)

  • Single quote (')

  • Tab delimited

Whenever you choose a different delimiter, the system interpretation of the change is reflected in the data preview grid to help you see what effect the change has on the data.

Text Qualifier

Some lists use single or double quotation marks to indicate that the characters they enclose should all be treated as text, including characters that might otherwise be treated as delimiters.

  • Double quote

  • None

  • Single quote

Example:

Select comma as the Delimiter and Double quote marks as the text qualifier. With these choices, the following sample will display two columns in the grid: Johnson in one and Manager, Sales in the other.

Johnson, "Manager, Sales"

    ClosedWorking with the Sample Grid

When you select an Import File Sample the first ten rows of the sample appear in the grid at the bottom of the Leadlist Definition form. The following features are available in the Leadlist Definition data entry form grid to organize and display the data:

Feature

How does this work?

Sort

Sort the information in a column by clicking the header. When the arrow points up, the column is sorted in ascending order. When the arrow points down, the column is sorted in descending order.

You can also right-click a header and choose Sort Ascending or Sort Descending from the menu that appears.

Sizing

Adjust the size of a column by placing your cursor between two column headers until your cursor turns into a double-headed arrow. Then click and drag the column boundary to the right or left until it is the width you want.

You can also right-click a header and choose Best Fitfrom the menu. This option adjusts the column width to the length of the cell containing the most data. To adjust all columns, click Best Fit (all columns) from the right-click menu.

Reorder Columns

You can rearrange the order in which columns appear by clicking a header and dragging it to a new location and then releasing the mouse button. This is called "drag and drop."

Filter Data

Filter the data that appears in the grid by selecting the black arrow on the right side of the column and choosing from the following options:

Filter Type

What does it do?

All

Display all rows.

Custom

Apply two criteria values within the current column by using the operators (equal, greater than) or the comparison values (and/or). Using this feature you can apply a custom filter to the list.

Blanks

Display only rows that contain a blank cell in the filtered column.

NonBlanks

Display only rows that contain a value in the filtered column.

Specific item

Choose to display only rows that contain a specific value in the filtered column.

    ClosedAssigning Columns in the Grid

Use the sample grid at the bottom of the Leadlist Definition form to assign each column of data to a field in AMS360. To assign a column do the following:

  1. Right-click a cell within the column. A menu appears.

  1. From the list select the table corresponding to where the data should appear when imported. A table sub-menu appears.

If you do not want to import the data in the column, you can either leave the column unassigned or select Ignore Column.

  1. From the sub-menu, select the AMS360 field that matches the text and formatting of the data in the column.

When you assign a field to a column, that field appears grey and cannot be assigned to another column.

    ClosedTable Selections

The following table provides additional information about the AMS360 fields that can be assigned to the columns of the leadlist. The fields available for importing correspond to fields in the Customer data entry form.
