Target Lists

Use Target Lists in the AMS360Sales Center to identify customers, prospects, or suspects in your agency's database that meet a set of criteria you select. This list can then be used to determine workload, to send a letter about changing markets, or to cross-sell products.

You must have proper security authorization to access Target Lists.

    ClosedCreating a Target List

You can create a target list from scratch by selecting the criteria or you can create a target list by copying the criteria from an existing list and then changing specific items.

    ClosedCreating a Target List from Scratch

Do the following to create a target list from scratch:

  1. From the Sales Center menu click Actions>New Target List. The Target Lists selection form appears.

  2. Select criteria for your target list. See Target Lists Selections, in this topic for information on the criteria available.

  3. When you have made your selections, click Run Query in the Query Information section. The Count Results appear.

  4. Enter a List Name, Description, and Author.

  5. To save your target list, click the Save & Close icon on the toolbar or from the menu click File>Save & Close.

    ClosedCreating a Target List by Copying an Existing List

Do the following to create a target list by copying an existing list and changing specific criteria:

  1. From the target lists view in the Sales Center, click the name of the target list you want to copy. The target list opens for viewing.

  2. Click Closeon the section menu bar to close all sections.

  3. From the menu, click File > Copy Target. AMS360 copies the target list and opens it for you.

  4. Review and change the selection criteria as needed. See Target List Selections, in this topic for information on the criteria available.

  5. When you have finished changing the criteria, click Run Query in the Query Information section. The Count Results appear.

  6. Enter a List Name, Description, and Author.

  7. To save your target list, click the Save & Close icon on the toolbar or from the menu click File > Save & Close.

    ClosedTarget Lists Grid

The target list grid includes existing lists to view or copy as the basis for a new list. The target lists appear in ascending order by Name. To re-sort the lists using the information in any column, click the column header.

The name given the list when it was created.

Date

The date the list was created.

Author

The person who created the list.

Description

The description entered when the list was created.

# of Customers

The number of customers that met the criteria when the query was run and the list was saved.

# of Policies

The number of policies that met the criteria when the query was run and the list was saved.

# of Lines of Business

The number of lines of business that met the criteria when the query was run and the list was saved.

# of Dependents/Drivers

The number of dependents or drivers that met the criteria when the query was run and the list was saved.

Total Rows

The number of rows generated by your query.

If your target list includes policy criteria, the rows represent policies that match the criteria.

    ClosedTarget List Selections

Select criteria for your target list from the following sections.

Each section includes a Delete option, in the upper right corner, that you can use to clear the criteria for that section.

    ClosedCustomer Criteria

These selections query your AMS 360 database using the information entered in the Customer data entry form, and personal lines of business data entry forms that include driver information.

Remember the more criteria you select the smaller your Target List will be because the members of the list must meet all the selected criteria.

Select the types of customers to include in your target list.

Status

Select the status of customers to include in your target list.

Business with Agency

Select the types of business with your agency that customers in your target list must have. The options are:

  • Personal

  • Commercial

Zip Codes

Use to select customers for your list based on zip codes. Enter a zip code and the list includes all customers with that zip code.

For a range or series of zip codes enter starting and ending codes in the zip code fields.

County(ies)

Use to create a target list based on county by entering up to two counties.

The spelling of the county must match exactly. However, the entries are not case-sensitive. Using kingas search criteria will returnkingandKing.

  • Select July in the first month field and August in the second month field. Select 20 in the first age field and 21 in the second age field.

    If the current year is 2004, then your target list will include those that have a birthday in July and August of 1983 and 1984.

  • If you enter one or more letters in the first field, the list includes names that start with those letters.

    ClosedProfile(s) Criteria

These selections queries your AMS 360 database using the data entered in the Profile section of the Customer data entry form. There is no limit to the number of profile questions you can include in your query.

Use this operator in combination with the answer to a specific profile question. Select an operator using the guide below:

Indicates that the answer to the selected profile question must equal the comparison value you enter.

Exists

Indicates that an answer exists for the selected profile question. It does not have any other requirements for contents of the answer, only that there is one.

Greater than

Indicates that the answer to the selected profile question must be greater than the comparison value you enter.

Greater than or equal to

Indicates that the answer to the selected profile question must be greater than or equal to the comparison value you enter.

Less than

Indicates that the answer to the selected profile question must be less than the comparison value you enter.

Less than or equal to

Indicates that the answer to the selected profile question must be less than or equal to the comparison value you enter.

Less than or equal to and a blank comparison value do not return customers with unanswered profile questions. Use Not Exists to identify customers with missing answers to profile questions.

Not equal to

Indicates that the answer to the selected profile question does not equal the comparison value you enter.

Not exists

Indicates that the answer to the selected profile question is blank.

Use this option to create a list of customers who need to have an answer entered for a particular profile question.

Comparison Value

Enter the answer to the profile question to use in the search. You can enter up to 80 characters.

You can use a wild card character (%) when querying text-type answers with Equal to (=) or Not equal to (<>) operators.

Beginning and end of word or phrase

By placing the % at both the beginning and end of the comparison text, AMS360 finds customers where the word or phrase is anywhere in the profile answer.

Example:If you enter%umbrella%, then the search finds all customers with answers like the following:

End of word or phrase

If you place a % following the comparison text, the search finds customers where the text is at the end of the profile answer.

To create a list based on X-Date Interest Level select up to four interest levels from the list. AMS 360 includes all customers who have one of the interest levels entered. The choices are:

  • Closed

  • High

  • Low

  • Medium

To create a list for X-Dates with a specific Current Agent, enter the name here.

The spelling of the name you enter here must match the one entered in X-Date data entry. However, it is not case-sensitive. No wild cards apply to searching on this field.

Account Size

To create a list based on X-Date Account Size select up to three account sizes from the list. AMS 360 includes all customers who have one of the sizes entered. The choices are:

  • Closed

  • Jumbo

  • Large

  • Medium

  • Small

Example: If you enter criteria for Homeowners (exists) And Private Passenger Auto (exists) your query will find customers that have a policy with both lines of business or a policy for each line of business. But they must have both lines of business.

Or

Searches for policies that meet at least one of the line of business criteria entered.

Example: If you enter criteria for Homeowners (exists) Or Private Passenger Auto (exists) your query will find customers that have at least one of the lines of business, either a homeowners or a private passenger auto. The customer can have both lines of business and still appear on the target list.

If you select either And or Or for any line of business, then the same value is set for all lines of business you select and cannot be changed for individual lines.

    ClosedCoverage(s) Criteria

You can add coverage criteria to your Target List after selecting a Line of Business.

You can choose coverage criteria for Specialty Lines of Business only where you have created and used a Specialty Line of Business data entry form or you are using one of the system data entry forms.

The coverage list contains all coverages. Select the one you want to use.

You can add multiple coverages to your criteria list. Coverages are associated with a line of business.

Example: If you enter Private Passenger Auto coverage criteria for Collision (exists) OrComprehensive (exists) your query will find customers that have at least one Private Passenger Auto policy with either Collision or Comprehensive. The customer can have a Private Passenger Auto policy with both coverages and still appear on the target list.

If you select either And or Or for any coverage, then the same value is set for all coverages you select and cannot be changed for individual coverages. However, you can enter a duplicate line of business and enter different coverage criteria.

All customers that have a minimum of the selected LOB in a monoline and/or package policy.

1 LOB with "NOT EXISTS"

Line of Business not = Personal Umbrella

All customers that do not contain the selected LOB in a monoline and/or package policy.

If this LOB is found anywhere for a customer, that customer will not appear on the target list. If a customer has no policies, that customer will appear on the target list.

2 or 3 LOB's selected with 'EXISTS' and an operator of 'AND'

Line of Business = Private Passenger Auto, and Line of Business = Homeowners

All customers that have a minimum of ALL the selected LOB's in a monoline and/or package policy.

If one of the LOB's is not found anywhere for a customer, that customer will not appear on the target list.

2 or 3 LOB's are selected with 'NOT EXISTS' and an operator of 'AND'

Line of Business not = Homeowners, and Line of Business not = Personal Umbrella

All customers that do not contain both selected LOB's in a monoline and/or package policy.

Line of Business not = Business Auto, or Line of Business not = Trucker's

All customers that do not contain any of the selected LOB's in a monoline and/or package policy.

If one or more of the LOB's are found anywhere for a customer, that customer will not appear on the target list. If a customer has no policies, that customer will appear on the target list.

When you are finished making the selections for your target list, run the query to locate the individuals and policies that meet the criteria. Use this section to run the query and view the results.

# of Customers

The number of customers, prospects, and suspects that meet the criteria.

# of Dependents/ Drivers

The number of personal lines dependents and drivers that meet the criteria.

This field only appears if you checked Include Dependents/Drivers in the Customer Criteria section.

# of Policies

The number of policies that meet the criteria.

More than one policy per customer can meet the criteria.

# of Lines of Business

The number of lines of business that meet the criteria.

Policies can have multiple lines of business that meet the criteria.

Total rows

The total number of customers, policies, and lines of business that meet the criteria.

A row appears for each policy or line of business that matches the criteria. This can result in multiple rows per customer.

Save List As

Field

What is this?

List Name

Enter a name for the target list that will make it easily identifiable in the target lists grid.

Description

Enter a brief explanation for the target list to help identify it in the target lists grid.

Author

Defaults to the employee currently logged in and creating the target list query. You can change the name, if necessary, by choosing an employee from the list.

Include Policy Information

Check this box to save the policy and line of business data and counts with the target list.

(Fill Grid)

Click this button to display the actual customer and policy detail information generated by your query.

This option is only available if your target list policy count is less than 2500.

Default Sort

The default sort is by Cust Name and then by Policy # in ascending order. You can re-sort by any column by clicking the column header.

The information that displays is based on your division and department security authorization.

(Delete Row)

Select a row in the grid and click this button to remove the customer and policy from the target list. This allows you to create a customized list. When you save the target list, the rows you delete here are not included in the list.

If you delete a row in error you can click Run Query again to return all the original rows to the grid.

Map Location

Use this link to create a map for the selected participants in your target list. See the Map Location topic for more information.

This option is only available for rows that appear in the grid.

The executives and representatives for the customer entered in customer information.

The policy numbers that met your criteria.

The effective and expiration dates of the policy listed in the query results.
