Specifying Relative Dates

For many BenefitPoint Business Intelligence reports you are able to specify a relative date.  Relative date means that instead of entering a specific date (such as October 15, 2019), you can select:

  • A specified number of days, weeks, or months before or after the date of the report.
  • A relative date for fields such as In Force Date, Effective Date, and Renewal Date.
  • The plus sign for future dates.
  • The plus sign and change it to a minus sign for prior dates.

For example, you could specify a relative date as "minus ten days from today." On the date the report is run, BBI calculates the date ten days prior, and returns data from that date on the report.

Example:

You want to generate a report that includes plans that were in force on the last day of the previous month.

  1. For the Select Dates parameter, select the check box for In Force Date.
  2. Click Relative Date.
  3. In the relative date pop-up, select the option Last day of the month; + 0 month(s).
  4. Click the plus sign to change it to a minus sign. Enter 1 for the month(s) field.
  5. Click Save.

If you run the report on 10/2/2019, the report includes plans that were in force in 9/30/2019. If you save the report parameters and run the report again on 11/4/2019, the report includes plans that were effective on 10/31/2019.
