Selection parameters (also called "filters" or "selection criteria") enable you to select the data that is included in BenefitPoint Business Intelligence report results. For example, for the selection parameter Account Type, if you select "Prospect" then only data for prospect-type accounts is included on the report.

Selection parameters enable you to hone in on just the information you need.

If multiple parameters are specified, then data must match all criteria to be selected on the report. For example, if you entered selection parameters Primary Sales Lead: Bob Johnson and Account Type: Client you would see accounts only those accounts that match both parameters.

For some parameters, you can make multiple selections. If you selected both Bob Johnson and Ella Mendez for the Primary Sales Lead parameter, you would see all accounts where either Bob or Ella is the primary sales lead.

Some selection parameters are required; that is, you must make a selection before you can run the report. Often selection parameters are required for performance reasons. If the data isn't narrowed down, there would be so many results that the system would be significantly slowed down.
