Business Type Settings and AMS360

Two integration options are available when pushing business type data from BenefitPoint to AMS360:

  • The business type designation is by default the generic business type name of Benefits when integrating with AMS360.
  • With the optional Business Type Selection firm setting enabled, you can make a number of AMS360 Business Types available for selection by brokers when maintaining accounts in BenefitPoint. When adding accounts (that do not yet exist in AMS360) on the Add Account page, a selection from the AMS360 Business Types list will be required before saving the page.

If you searched for an account in AMS360, then add and link it to BenefitPoint, business types already selected in AMS360 will be brought over. You will have to add the business types that are applicable for the benefits side.

If you deselect any of the selections coming from AMS360, you will overwrite the business types on the AMS360 side.

With the firm setting enabled, users will see a selection box with AMS360 business types when you add an account into BenefitPoint that does not currently exist in AMS360 (see the red-boxed section in the illustration below).

To enable firm settings, Create a Case in My Vertafore.

This setting should be used with caution as BenefitPoint can overwrite AMS360 business types when updating account information.

Any edits to the account and the AMS360 Business Types selections will be sent to AMS360.

This export option is recommended only for firms who push multiple businss types to AMS360.

Map Business Types Between AMS360 and BenefitPoint

To send policies added in BenefitPoint to the correct business type in AMS360, map lines of coverage or plan types to a business type in the AMS360 Set-up. Without mapping, the default, generic business type selection will be Benefits.

For firms that are integrated with ImageRight or WorkSmart, you can select to have the business type check-boxes checked on every insert and update of accounts to ensure that those folders stay visible.

Important Notes about using AMS360 Business Types with integration:

  • Firm Setting to Require Business Type selection in BenefitPoint to integrate with AMS360.
  • If selected, there will be opportunities to select Business Types to send and integrate with AMS360:
    • Insert/Update Accounts
    • Mapping Plan Types/LOBs to Business types for plans and products
  • IMPORTANT: right now, we only send Benefits as a business type for accounts and plans inserting from BenefitPoint into AMS360.

When the firm setting is not selected, the behavior is the same as today. If the firm setting is selected, users could overwrite what is selected in AMS360.

For set-up details and cautions, please see the Business Type Settings and AMS360 topic.
