Business Unit Setup
Business unit structure in AMS360 may consist of two, three or four structural levels based on your agency's needs. The multi-level design of Business Unit Setup allows agencies the greatest flexibility in the following areas:
- Categorizing income and expenses by business unit.
- Restricting employee security access by business unit.
- Accounting and policy reporting by business unit.
The Business Unit Setup form is used for name and address setup at each level and to assign relationships between the levels.
You must first turn on the desired business unit levels from within the Agency Setup > Accounting Options form by selecting the appropriate Business Unit check boxes in order to properly complete Business Unit Setup.
- Open the Administration Center.
- On the Agency Overview toolbar, click Edit.
- Expand the Business Unit Setup section.
- Enable the desired business unit levels by selecting the appropriate check boxes in the Business Unit group.
- Click Business Unit Setup.
The following sections are available:
In order for income and expense entries to be categorized by available business units, the Business Unit group box appears in certain voucher sections for checks, receipts and journal entries. The rules governing how these items function and display are listed below:
Division is display only and plugs based on the division selected in the General Information section of the form.
Branch, Department and Group are required fields if the general ledger accounts being accessed are in the income & expense statement. If there is only one selection in the list, the field defaults to that entry, otherwise the field defaults as blank and you can select the desired entry from the list.
Branch, Department and Group lists fill with the active branches/departments and/or groups based on the logged in user's Division/Branch/Department/Group Security Access in Employee Setup.
You can add a Branch to an existing Division and/or a Group to an existing Department. You cannot convert an existing Division into a Branch, nor can you make an existing Department into a Group.
