Add a Coverage Code
You can add a coverage code to your system at any time. Coverage codes, also know as Line of Business (LOB) codes, identify types of policies and associate the code with the appropriate ACORD LOB code.
Prerequisites
You must link any coverage code that you add to your database to the appropriate pages and forms using the Policy Information Control (PIC) page. For more information, please see Policy Information Control Page. You must associate any Coverage Code that you add with an existing Major Line Code.
About the ACORD LOB Code and ACORD Sub-LOB fields
The ACORD LOB Code and ACORD Sub-LOB fields are two optional fields on the Generic Code Maintenance Page. You are not required to complete them.
The ACORD LOB Code:
-
organizes your policy database, connecting the coverage codes you create to the ACORD electronic standard for the Line of Business.
-
is used for multi-company interface and integrated rating.
Example: The ACORD LOB code for private Passenger Automobile is AUTOP; with the ACORD Sub-LOB Code field blank. To create a code for a specialized automobile line such as Assigned Risk Plan (ARP), enter:
ACORD LOB Code: AUTOP
ACORD sub-LOB Code: ARP
Use the ACORD sub-LOB code to identify product classification and further refine the LOB code.
