Working with Clients Overview
Working with clients involves adding new clients to the system and looking up or loading an existing client to service an account.

Agencies define their own client codes. Vertafore recommends that the agency set up a system for defining client codes and make that information available to all employees who use Sagitta.
Naming Tips
A client code can have up to 15 alphanumeric characters. Do not include spaces in the code. Many agencies find that using 7 or 8 characters meets their needs.
For commercial lines clients: Many agencies set up a system that uses several letters from the first word in the client name and several letters from the second word in the client name. For example:
Commercial client name | Client code |
---|---|
Concord Plumbing |
CONCPLU |
Lakewood Flowers |
LAKEFLO |
For personal lines clients: Because the Client List lists clients alphabetically by client code, many agencies like to begin the client code for a personal lines client with letters from the client's last name. For example:
Personal client name | Client code (example) |
---|---|
Anna Flemming |
FLEMANN |
Richard Whiting |
WHITRIC |

You add a new client by assigning an agency-defined client code and then entering the client's identifying information on the Basic Client Information page. Identifying information includes the client's name, address, phone and fax numbers, Email address, etc.
For instructions, see Add a New Client.

Before you can work with an existing client in Sagitta, you need to search for and open the client record.
Looking up a client name involves using the Client Search to generate a Client List. Selecting a client name from the Client List opens the Client Details page.
