Cancellation Request

Use the Cancellation Request/Policy Release feature to generate a Cancellation Request/Policy Release (ACORD 35). Completing a Cancellation Request/Policy Release does not update the policy declaration. Update the policy declaration through Transactional Processing. See Transactional Processing for additional information about updating the policy declaration in InStar.

ClosedAccessing the Cancellation Request Form

  1. You can access ACORD forms from the Customer Information window, or from a specific policy window. Use one of the following methods to access the Client & Policy Forms window:

From the Customer Information window, click the policy to select it, and then click Forms on the function bar.

From any policy window, click Forms on the tool bar.

  1. In the Client & Policy Forms window, select Cancellation Request.

  2. If no Cancellation Request/Policy Release forms have previously been created for this customer, a new data entry window opens.  

Otherwise, the Cancellation Request/Policy Release Issued window opens, displaying a list of previously-created forms. For a list of fields and options on the Agent/Broker of Record Change Issued window, see Working with ACORD Forms.

ClosedAdding a Cancellation Request

  1. If applicable, click Add to open a new form. (If no previous Cancellation Request/Policy Release forms exist for this customer, a new form opens automatically and you can skip this step.)

  2. Company and policy information is pulled in from the policy information for the selected policy. Review the existing information and make any changes necessary.

  3. Enter the effective date and hour of cancellation.

  4. Select either Cancellation Request or Policy Release.

  5. Scroll down and complete the For Agency/Company Use fields as needed.

  6. Click Save.

  7. You now have the following options.

Close the window without any further action and return to the Cancellation Request/Policy Release Issued Window.

Edit

Open the form in edit mode so that you can make changes.

Duplicate

If you need to issue an additional cancellation/release form with similar information, click Duplicate to create a duplicate form and then change individual fields as necessary.

Print

Open the Report Destination Window so that you can set print options, such as destination and number of copies. You can also print the binder later from the Cancellation Request/Policy Release Issued window.

ClosedViewing or Modifying a Cancellation Request

  1. To view, modify, or print an existing form, double-click the appropriate row on the Cancellation Request/Policy Release Issued window.

  2. If you need to make changes, click Edit to open the form for changes and make any necessary modifications.

  3. Click Save.

  4. You now have the following options.

ClosedPrinting Cancellation Request

Click Print All to print all forms in the list. If you have filtered the list (for example, display active policies only), only the currently-displayed policies are printed.

To print a single formr, click the appropriate item in the list, then click Print Sel (print selected). Select multiple binders by holding down Ctrl as you click the forms you want to print.

The Report Destination Window window opens, so that you can set print options such as destination and number of copies.
