Solutions at Quote, powered by LexisNexis, is an added feature that when selected on the Carrier Selection page for a personal auto quote, returns individual and vehicle data of registered individuals at the address entered for the quote. If the client address is a rental property, data returned may include individuals or vehicles that do not pertain to the client/quote. Only the selected vehicles and individual information returned from SAQ is imported into the quote. The individual’s information returned from SAQ is written at the client level, regardless of the selection on the SAQ page. Verify individuals at the client level and delete any not associated with the named insured.
Once all agency information, including your LexisNexis NodeID, is received, PL Rating submits the account information to LexisNexis. Once they enter and verify the provided information, PL Rating is notified to activate your rating account for any LexisNexis add-ons. This activation takes approximately 10 business days.
Credit information provided by a third-party vendor through either Third-Party Reporting or real-time transaction can only be corrected by the individual names on the report directly with the third-party vendor.
Most real-time carrier partners order a credit score automatically in the background during the rating transaction. These carriers are not listed under Third-Party Reports. Carriers that are not real-time, or real-time carriers that lack the ability to return the credit score, will appear under Third-Party Reports if they are carrier-sponsored from within the program.

MVR and C.L.U.E. reports are typically ordered upon submission to the carrier’s website. Carriers that do offer MVR and C.L.U.E. reporting prior to submission are located within the Third-Party Reporting section of PL Rating.
Carriers can be added or removed by the agency admin.
To add or remove a carrier, complete the following steps:
- Log on to PL Rating with an agency Administrator account.
- From the Admin menu, select Manage Agency Information. The Agency Information page appears.
- Click the Carriers tab.
- Select the appropriate state from the list
- Select the appropriate line of business.
- Check the company that needs to be added to the PL Rating account
- Uncheck the carrier that needs to be removed.
- Click Finish.
- Verify the changes are correct in the summary and click Finish.
The changes made are immediate. Users will need to log out of PL Rating to see the change take effect. If a carrier was added, the carrier credentials need to be added to Admin>Manage Real-Time Passwords.
Your PL Rating license agreement determines the number of user seats per account. Users can be added and/or updated in PL Rating by the agency admin. From the Admin menu, select Manage Users. Here, existing user information can be edited or new users created. If the maximum number of users has been reach, please contact Vertafore Sales to purchase additional seats at 800.444.4813, option 1.
Users have the ability to use the Reset/Unlock your account link from the PL Rating login page following four unsuccessful login attempts. However, the agency admin can unlock a user’s account. From the Admin menu, click Manage Users. Locked user accounts are indicated in red in the Status field. To reset the account, simply click the Locked status. The account will reset and an email containing a new password will be sent to the email address for the user.
In order to rate successfully with any real-time carrier, the specific carrier credentials must be set up within PL Rating (see Managing Real-Time Passwords document in help). Vertafore Support does not have access to your carrier-specific credentials, but your carrier representative should be able to assist if you do not know the appropriate information. In most cases, the credentials used to log on to a carrier’s website are the same credentials that you would enter for the carrier in PL Rating. Please note that if you are rating with Palisades or one of the Liberty/RAM carriers, be advised that activation for comparative rating within PL Rating is required on these carriers’ websites.
Once you have obtained your rate for your quote, carriers who have the ability to import PL Rating quotes are noted with their logos in the Submit to Carrier field. Simply click the logo. The carrier’s site opens and the quote from PL Rating can be found and issuance completed with the carrier.
Once you have obtained your rate for your quote, select Export Quote Data under Agency Management Export. On the Export page, select your management system and then click Export. Your agency admin may need to set up this feature to ensure the correct paths are used in both PL Rating and your management system.
Clients and quotes remain in PL Rating until the users deletes them.
If you click Rate before completing all required company questions, all unanswered questions will appear in red. Verify that all red questions are completed before you click Rate. If using a screen resolution less than 1024x768, scrolling to the right may be necessary to see the vertical scroll bar for the questions.
