Custom XLS to AL3 Utility
The Custom XLS to AL3 Utility converts an Excel Direct Bill Statement (XLS) file into an AL3 file.
This is an add-on product for AMS360, and also requires the AMS360 direct bill statement download license. Both must be purchased from sales if needed. |

Prior to using the Custom XLS to AL3 Utility, please verify the following setups:

User must have Owner security permissions to access the Custom XLS to AL3 Utility.

Set up for each Parent Company with which you download and assign the appropriate NAIC codes. See Company Setup for more information on setting up companies.
Under the Company Setup > Download Addresses section, Set up the download Origination Addresses for each company. Enter a unique Origination Address for each company.

• In 360 Toolbox, click Launch Programs > Custom XLS to AL3 Utility.
The Custom XLS to AL3 Utility data entry form appears.
After completing the file conversion, open Assign Customers/Policies via the Toolbox > Integration > Download> Assign Customers/Policies. |

This process must be completed for each Excel file.

Select Default Template from the pull-down list. |

Click to start the process of converting the XLS file to a download AL3 format.

Export Blank Template |
Opens Excel and creates an example of the default template. |

Solutions to the following error messages are listed below. For further assistance, contact Vertafore Customer Care at My Vertafore and create a case.

There was a problem mapping the AL3. Please contact the Custom Group for assistance. |
This indicates there is an issue in the .xls statement. Check the statement to make sure there are no blank fields. This error may also indicate the file is not saved as a .xls. Copy the file contents to a new Excel file and save as .xls file format. |
XLS to AL3 export did not complete successfully. Please check with the Custom Group. There was a problem loading the Excel input file, please contact the custom group for assistance. |
This message will occur due to missing drivers for Microsoft Office. Vertafore Customer Support can provide customers with links to install the necessary drivers. |

Once the file has been converted to an AL3 file, it must be processed via direct download.

After the AL3 file has been downloaded, check the Assign Customers/Policies area of AMS360 to see if any accounting transactions must be manually assigned to a customer and policy in AMS360.
It is not recommended to use the BenefitPoint version of the utility (located in 360 Toolbox > Integration > BenefitPoint > Process Statement). This version of the tool is not supported. |
