Business Unit Split Templates

The Business Unit Split Templates setup form allows you to define commission splits by business units for use in Policy Transactions and when creating invoices. Use it to assign portions of the commissions to specific divisions, branches, departments, and groups. When circumstances for your agency change, you can use the form to easily edit these splits, thereby minimizing update chores.

You must first activate the desired business unit levels by checking the Business Unit checkboxes in Agency Setup > Business Unit Setup. Keep in mind your agency may not use all of the business units available because branches and groups are optional.

The Business Unit Split Templates form is only accessed from a link within Accounting Options section of Agency Setup.

  1. Click the Toolbox menu anywhere it is available, and choose System Administration > Agency.

  2. Expand the Accounting Options section.

  3. Click the Business Unit Split Templates link. The form opens.

The following fields and grid appear when you click New or Edit on the Business Unit Template Information section menu:

Edited templates only affect policies where the template is newly applied. The template previously applied to a policy does not change.

Fields

What is this?

Name

Enter an easily identifiable name for the split. This name appears in the Business Unit Split list in the Transaction Premiums/Billing section of the Policy.

Description

Add a description including any additional information that defines this split.

Active

Use this box to make the template available in the policy data entry form. Because you cannot delete a template once it has been saved, uncheck this box to hide the template so it no longer appears in the list of available templates in policy data entry.

Business Unit Split Percentages

Each combination of Division, Branch, Department, and Group set up for your agency appears in the grid.

  1. Click Select to choose a combination to include in the template.

  2. Enter the percentage of commission this business unit combination is to receive.

The total of percentages entered must equal 100% before you can add or update the template.

  1. When you have finished entering splits, click Add.
