Custom XLS to AL3 Utility
Although the Custom XLS to AL3 Utility is a custom product used to process Direct Bill Commission Statements for BenefitPoint customers. The Custom XLS to AL3 Utility converts an Excel Direct Bill Statement ( )file into an file. Then;
Verification of Setups
Prior to using the Custom XLS to AL3 Utility, please verify the following setups:
Agency Machine Address and Participant Code
An IVANS Machine Address and Participant Code are required for Direct Bill Download. Verify your information in Agency Setup > System Configuration Options.
Insurance Company Download Setup
Set up for each with which you download and assign the appropriate codes. See Company Setup for more information on setting up companies.
Under the Company Setup > Download Addresses section, Set up the download Origination Addresses for each company. Enter a unique Origination Address for each company.
Open and Save .XLS files - BenefitPoint only
Before running the utility to convert your BenefitPoint .XLS files to AL3, you need to open and save them to your workstation.

Open the source file from BenefitPoint. Microsoft Excel opens to display the contents of the .xls file.

Choose File > Save As. The Save As dialog box opens.

In the Save As Type field, choose Microsoft Excel Workbook (*.xls) from the drop down list.

Click Save. A Microsoft Excel Message appears saying, "The file [name] already exists. Do you want to replace the existing file?"

Click Yes. The Save As dialog box closes.
Accessing Custom XLS to AL3 Utility
From any Center or data entry form that has a Toolbox menu, click Toolbox > Integration > BenefitPoint(Aptus) > Process Statement.
The Custom XLS to AL3 Utility data entry form appears.
After completing the file conversion, open Assign Customers/Policies via the Toolbox > Integration > BenefitPoint(Aptus) > Assign Customers/Policies.

This process must be completed for each Excel file.

Enter the Direct Bill Statement Date.

Select Template
|
Select Default Template from the pull-down list.

Convert

Click to start the process of converting the XLS file to a download AL3 format.

Close
|
Use the Close button to exit the utility.

Export Blank Template
|
Opens Excel and creates an example of the default template.

There was a problem loading the Excel input file. Please contact the Custom Group for assistance.

The cause for this error message can be easily corrected and will be addressed in a future release of AMS360.
The file you are trying to convert needs to be opened and saved as an .XLS file on your workstation.

In AMS360, from any Center or data entry form that has a Toolbox menu, select Toolbox > Integration > BenefitPoint > Process Statement and continue with the process of converting the .XLS file to an AL3.

XLS to AL3 did not complete successfully. Please review C:\[File Name]_ErrorReport.txt

This message will appear if the XLS export did not convert to AL3 successfully. Locate and print the text file in the message. Items on the list will need to be corrected before the process can be run again.
Example of an error message text file:
This file shows the transaction date caused the error. The transaction date was not between the policy effective date and the policy expiration date.
