Fields and controls include the following:
- Once: Click the radio button to require that the courses selected in Step 2 be completed only once in order to fulfill the requirements.
- Multiple Times: Click the radio button to require that the courses selected in Step 2 be completed on a continuing or recurring basis in order to fulfill the requirements.
STEP 4: How will this requirement's expiration date be determined?
Allows you to set a coverage period for the requirement (i.e., the period of time that a producer, after having met the requirement, maintains good standing before coverage will expire or before needing to meet a subsequent requirement).
View screen capture
Fields and controls include the following:
- Fixed Review Date: Click the radio button to set a coverage period for a new requirement that expires on a specific review date. Set the coverage period criteria using the following fields and controls:
- Review Date[month] [day]: Select a month and day for a specific review date.
- Period[x]year(s): Select an interval in years for a coverage period.
If the frequency criterion selected in Step 3 is Once, then the requirement's coverage period will expire on the selected review date in [x] years, where [x] is the value specified in the Period[x]year(s) field.
If the frequency criterion selected in Step 3 is Multiple Times, then the requirement's coverage period will expire on the selected review date every [x] years, where [x] is the value specified in the Period[x]year(s) field.
- Course Completion Date: Click the radio button to set a coverage period for a new requirement based on the completion date of the last qualifying course (or the only qualifying course, if the requirement is met through the completion of only one course). Set the coverage period criteria using the following fields and controls:
- Period[x]year(s): Set an interval in years that the coverage period will last following the completion date of the last qualifying course.
If the frequency criterion selected in Step 3 is Once, then the requirement's coverage period will expire [x] years after the completion date of the last qualifying course, where [x] is the value specified in the Period[x]year(s) field.
If the frequency criterion selected in Step 3 is Multiple Times, then the requirement's coverage period will expire every [x] years after the completion date of the last qualifying course, where [x] is the value specified in the Period[x]year(s) field. The requirement must be met every [x] years on an ongoing basis in order to maintain good standing with the selected credential program.
- Never Expires (Once and Done): Not available ifMultiple Timesis selected inStep 3. Click the radio button to set a perpetual coverage period for a new requirement.
If the frequency criterion selected in Step 3 is Once, then the requirement's coverage period never expires. Once the requirement is met, and assuming other requirement sets associated with the selected credential program are met, a producer has fulfilled the credential program.

Notes
Note: The procedure for adding requirements to a template-based credential program is different from that for a custom-configured credential program. For more information on adding requirements to a template-based program, see Add a Requirement (Template-Based Program).
Note: When configuring requirements, you may return to any preceding step in the procedure by clicking its name link.
Note: When adding requirements to a custom-configured credential program based on third-party certifications, criteria in STEP 3: How many times will this requirement be met? and STEP 4: How will this requirement's expiration date be determined? are set in the system and cannot be user-modified. A producer may fulfill a requirement based on third-party certified training coursework multiple times, and the producer will maintain good standing with the requirement until coverage under the third-party certification expires.
Note: A producer may fulfill credential program requirements based on third-party certifications if integration between Producer Manager and a compliance certification clearinghouse retrieves the required certifications, or if the required certifications are added manually to the producer's record. For more information, see Third Party Certifications.
Tips
In the STEP 1: Are there any requirements that must be met first? section, the options in the Prerequisite Name field allow you to set up a relationship between an initial or prerequisite education course and subsequent ongoing or "refresher" courses. As an example, the Sircon Example California Annuity Program requires 8 hours of prerequisite coursework in the Annuity Training - Initial course category. A producer must fulfill this prerequisite requirement just once. However, in order to maintain good standing in the credential program, during each license renewal period the producer must take 4 hours of "refresher" training in either the Annuity Training - Initial or Ongoing course categories. So, when adding a custom-configured credential program, if you checkmark an existing requirement set in the Prerequisite Name checkbox, the system will enforce that a producer meets the prerequisite requirements prior to meeting the additional requirements.
In the STEP 4: How will this requirement's expiration date be determined? section, you can use the Course Completion Date option in tandem with the prerequisite course option selected in STEP 1 to set up coverage periods for initial and ongoing training requirements. For example, you can configure a prerequisite requirement for an initial, 8-hour course that can be met only once and expires three years after the course completion date. Then, you can configure an ongoing requirement for a 4-hour, "refresher" course that must be met multiple times and that expires every two years after the course completion date. So, for example, to fulfill the requirements, a producer could complete the initial, prerequisite course in March 2009 and be covered from March 2008 to March 2012 (three years' coverage period). Then the producer could complete the first ongoing, "refresher" course in April 2012 and be covered until April 2014 (two years' coverage period), and then take it again in April 2014 and be covered until April 2016 (two years' coverage period), and so on.
If you are adding requirements to a credential program with existing requirements, you can set up a "parallel track" credential program, whereupon a producer can meet one set of requirements OR another set in order to fulfill the credential program. To do so, in the Prerequisite Name field in the STEP 1: Are there any requirements that must be met first? section, leave the checkboxes corresponding to an existing requirement set uncheckmarked. Proceed to configure the additional requirements as desired.
