Credential Programs
A credential program defines the education requirements that a producer is required to meet in order to attain or maintain an education credential. A credential program specifies the following:
-
The types of producers that are eligible to fulfill the credential program
-
The types of education courses that are applicable to the credential program
-
The number of required course hours in the credential program
-
The frequency with which the requirements of the credential program must be met
-
The coverage period during which a producer's satisfaction of the requirements remains effective.
A credential program must be applied to an education credential in order to use the Education Credentials functionality to track the eligibility of a producer to represent certain lines of business or product types.
If you have system administrator permissions, use the Credential Programs page to view, update, or delete an existing credential program or add a new credential program.
To open the Credential Programs page, from the Administration menu select Education Credentialing, and then select Credential Programs.
The Credential Programs page contains the following sections:
Notes
Note: A credential program defines only the education course requirements that a producer must meet in order to earn an education credential. All "Vertafore Example" credential programs and credential programs configured from a template also require that a producer holds specific license qualifications (e.g., Life, Variable Annuities, Variable Contracts, etc.), as well, to be eligible for a certain education credential.
Tips
You can apply a "Vertafore Example" credential program to an education credential. A "Vertafore Example" credential program includes pre-defined education requirements based on Vertafore’s interpretation of state or federal regulations that compel producers to hold certain license qualifications (LOA) and complete specific types of training, in order to be eligible to sell a particular line of business. "Vertafore Example" credential programs are identified as such on the Credential Programs page. You are not required to use a "Vertafore Example" credential program; rather it is intended as a convenience to save you the steps of configuring such a program yourself. Click the Edit Credential Program button () corresponding to a "Vertafore Example" credential program to open the View Credential Program page and review its specific requirements.
For more information about pre-defined credential programs, see Education Credential Programs by State and Product Line User Guide, available also on the Printable Help Guides page.
