Business Auto Line of Business

The purpose of the Business Auto line of business form is to gather auto information specific to the policy you are attaching this line of business to.

To access the Business Auto line of business data entry form, first add the Business Auto line of business to the Line of Business section of the Policy form. Then, click the link for this specific line business. Click here for an example.

The Line of Business list is filtered by the Type of Business selected in the Basic Policy Information section, only if the Filter data entry and lines of business by Type of Business checkbox is checked.

Business Auto uses the Type-in Grid feature of data entry. See Data Entry Forms - Grids, Type-in Grids, and Tables topic for more information on how to use this feature.

ClosedCovered Auto Symbols

The Business Auto Policy uses numeric symbols to indicate the types of vehicles for which coverage is in effect. For a list of the symbols and their definitions, click the glossary word symbols.

By selecting coverages here you can use the Get Coverages button in the Coverages section to automatically pull the coverages for the symbols you selected.

Default New Vehicle Coverages

Field

If the default setting is set to From Line of Business and there are no coverage rows at the line of business level, no coverages default to vehicle.

From Last Vehicle

Choosing this option means the coverages literally from the last vehicle you entered, which is not necessarily the last one in the list.

If the default setting is set to From Last Vehicle and there are no vehicle rows, or if no coverages exist for the vehicle, no coverages default.

If vehicles, INCLUDING coverages, are copied using Copy Line of Business, you cannot select to default new vehicle coverages here as the vehicles and coverages were copied over simultaneously.

Update Vehicle Coverages

Click to allow the system to determine if the Limit1, Limit2, Deductible Amt, Deductible Type has changed for any coverage during the policy’s effective date; or if a coverage row has been added.

Coverages are only updated for vehicles not marked as Exclude from coverage auto update under Vehicle Information.

Type-in Grid

Add information to a type-in grid by entering directly in each field on the grid. You can also use the actions, New, Edit, Delete on the section menu to work with the data in the type-in grid. The New and Edit actions open the data entry fields in the extended format. The Type-in Grid is then disabled.

Click this link to open the Get Drivers data entry from where you can copy drivers from another policy for this or another customer.

Re-number

Click this button to renumber the drivers in the grid sequentially starting with 1.

For example, if the driver numbers appear in the following order within the grid:

When you click Re-number, AMS360 renumbers the drivers sequentially retaining their current order in the grid. Therefore, in our example the numbers listed are changed as follows:

Keyboard Navigation in a Type-in Grid

The following keyboard shortcuts allow you to move easily throughout the grid:

Moves up or down on row with in the same level grid.

Left and Right Arrows

Moves right or left to the next available cell in the current grid row. If you are on the last cell of a row the right arrow moves you to the first cell of the next row. If you are on the first cell of a row, the left arrow moves you to the last cell of the previous row.

Tab

Moves right to the next available cell in the current grid row. If you are on the last cell of a row moves you to the first cell of the next row.

Shift + Tab

Moves left to the next available cell in the current grid row. If you are on the first cell of a row moves you to the last cell of the previous row.

Ctrl + End

Moves to the last row of a grid

Ctrl + Down Arrow

Move down to the next level of a grid.

Example Move from Location 1 in the Location grid to the Building grid with the buildings associated with Location 1.

Ctrl + Up  Arrow

Move up to the next level of a grid.

Example Move from Building grid to the Location grid.

Crtl + Spacebar

Expands or collapses a row.

Alt + Down Arrow

Use on a drop-down list to open the list.

Alt + Up Arrow

Use on a drop-down list to close the list.

Identifying the Active Type-in Grid Row

The right arrow icon identifies the grid row you are currently editing. Clicking another row or using a keystroke combination to move to another row makes that one active.

Editing Data in a Grid Row

Use the following keys to edit data within the grid:

F2

Allows you to edit specific data within the field versus removing the existing data and replacing it with the typed information.

Example You typed 100 and meant to type 1000000. Press F2, the data in the cell is highlighted. Press end and type  0000.

Esc

Cancels data entry and returns the cell to its original state with the previous data. This is equivalent to Cancel on a data entry screen.

Delete

Deletes the data in the current cell.

Spacebar

When used in a cell that is a check box, it toggles between checking and unchecking the box.

Type-in Grid Pop-up Menus

When working in a grid right-click the header row for the following actions:

Tracking number. This number increments each time you add a new driver, but can be changed.

Enter the name and address of the driver.

Personal Information

Enter the driver's social security number. AMS 360 will format it for you.

Click to copy vehicle and coverage information from the first vehicle selected to the second.

The customer VIN (vehicle number), and Lic. Plate # (license plate number) are left blank so you can enter this information for the newly created vehicle.

You can copy information to an existing vehicle number, creating a vehicle with a duplicate number. The copy creates a new vehicle line, it does not merge information with the existing vehicle with the same number.

Re-number

Click to automatically renumber the vehicles in the grid in sequential order.

Exclude vehicle from coverage

Check to exclude this vehicle from being updated when the Update Vehicle Coverages button is selected in the Coverage section.

Vehicle #

Enter the vehicle number. The number increments each time you add a new vehicle.

You can enter up to 9999 vehicles per policy.

Customer Vehicle #

Enter the number by which the customer identifies the vehicle.

Enter the license plate number of the vehicle.

License State

Select the state in which the vehicle is licensed.

Enter the primary industry classification code for commercial vehicles.

SIC

Enter the secondary Special Industry Class code that applies to commercial vehicles as determined by industry rating manuals.

Territory

Enter the rating territory code where the vehicle is principally garaged.

Seat CP

Use for public and livery vehicles. Enter the number of passenger seats available.

GVW/GCW

These terms identify the size class of commercial vehicles. The weights must be entered so the vehicle can be classified correctly.

The horsepower of the vehicle's engine.

The rating factor from the primary liability classification table. You can leave this field blank if you are not rating this application.

Primary Rate PD Factor

The rating factor from the primary property damage classification table. You can leave this field blank if you are not rating this application.

Secondary Rate Factor

The sum of the rating factors from the secondary classification table. You can leave this field blank if you are not rating this application.
