Appointment and Affiliation Settings
If you have system administrator permissions, use the Appointment and Affiliation Settings page to configure requirements for "just in time" (JIT) state appointment support, based on your company's interpretation of state regulations. You can configure the use of sales authorizations for firm or individual producers to require an appointment per sales event. For example, you can set rules for a JIT state where a sales authorization check for quoting a policy may not require the producer to hold an appointment, but a check for submitting a policy application may.
You also can configure whether sales authorization will allow a state-registered individual-to-firm affiliation (association) in lieu of an appointment.
To open the Appointment and Affiliation Settings page, choose one of the following methods:
-
From the Administration menu select Sales Authorization, and then select Appointment and Affiliation Settings
-
Click the Appointment and Affiliation Settings link in the Related Links section at the bottom of the Administer Products, Product Availability, or View Regulatory Mappings pages
The Appointment and Affiliation Settings page contains the following sections:
Notes
Note: The Appointment and Affiliation Settings page is functional only in carrier installations of Producer Manager.
Note: If configured to require an appointment when checking an individual or firm producer's sales authorization for a product type in a given state and for a given appointing company, the system verifies that the producer holds an active state appointment with the company and that the appointment type has been data mapped to the product type. Vertafore configures data mappings between product types and appointment types in the system's back end, based on analysis of state regulations. If you believe that data mappings are in error, contact your Vertafore support representative for assistance.
Note: If configured to allow a state-registered affiliation to satisfy an appointment requirement when checking an individual producer's sales authorization for a product type in given state, the system verifies that the State Registered field related to the correct Association State in the Firm Associations data section of the producer's record is set to Yes. Also, it verifies that the End Date field of the correct state association contains no value, indicating that the state association is active.
Note: If your company uses custom or proprietary sale authorization rules, appointment and affiliation settings cannot be configured on the Appointment and Affiliation Settings page. Instead, when opened, the page will display the following message: "Unable to Customize: Because of the highly customized nature of your business policies, a visual representation is unavailable."
